Basenote’s Grant Osbourne announced the creation of Chandler Burr’s collaboration with OpenSky to sell samples of an already established perfume as blind samples, available in an edition of 100 at the beginning of every month starting in June. For all of us who have blind purchased a perfume (i.e. never actually smelling the scent on our skin before buying), this is old hat. But Burr’s experiment is intriguing–it throws out the window the name of the perfume, its manufacturer and all of the other marketing schemes that get you to buy. Brilliant idea! Sadly I got to the deal a little too late to partake this month, but I can’t wait until July!
