Doug Wada’s Perfume Bottle Prints
Doug Wada is a New York based artist who makes detailed and realistic drawings of humble objects. Subway seats, garbage bags, and now perfume bottles have inspired Wada’s work because of their abstract and formal qualities. You can see more of his work on his website.
Most recently Wada created a suite of watercolor and ink drawings of perfume bottles stripped of their branding and other decorative elements to focus on the glass and the color of the perfume inside. The way the pinks, yellows, and blues of the juice inside interact with the glass produces a beautiful play of light.
According to the artist, paintings based on these watercolor prints will be on view at Marlborough Gallery in 2014.
